U.S. rally to shock Netherlands in friendly; Chile cruise by El Salvador

Netherlands threw away a two-goal lead to succumb to a dramatic 4-3 friendly defeat to Jurgen Klinsmann's United States team in Amsterdam.

The World Cup semifinalists had built on a Klaas-Jan Huntelaar brace to go 3-1 up when his shot deflected off Memphis Depay's for a 53rd-minute goal.

But the visitors, who had opened their account with a Gyasi Zardes goal in the 33rd minute, slashed the deficit in half when John Brooks struck on 71 minutes and Danny Willams levelled the match before Bobby Wood grabbed a shock winner from the bench in stoppage time.

Jorge Valdivia's 14th-minute goal capped an impressive night for Chile as the Copa America 2015 hosts topped El Salvador 1-0 in Rancagua, Chile.

The hosts dominated much of the proceedings, keeping the ball for 72 percent of the game.

Alexis Sanchez headed off the crossbar in the second half, but the home side failed to add to the Palmeiras playmaker's early tally at Estadio El Teniente de Rancagua.

Matt Ritchie's first goal for Scotland gave Gordon Strachan's side a 1-0 win over Qatar at Easter Road -- and a boost ahead of next week's crucial Euro 2016 qualifier in Dublin.

The Bournemouth winger, earning his third cap, drove in from the edge of the box just before the end of a first half the home side had controlled without sparkling.

Striker Steven Naismith hit the post before the break with one of several attempts and, while there were other close calls before the full-time whistle, there were no further goals.

Hungary cruised to a 4-0 win over Lithuania, with all the goals coming in the first half-hour. Zoltan Stieber, Balazs Dzsudzsak, Nemanja Nikolic and Tamas Priskin got on the scoresheet for the hosts.

Thailand and Bahrain played to a 1-1 draw, Jakkraphan Pornsai scoring shortly after half-time for the hosts before Sayed Ali Eissa equalised for Bahrain nine minutes from time.

Early goals from Oday Jafal and Omar Khribin were enough for Syria to defeat Oman 2-1.

Hassan Abdel-Fattah and Anas Bani Yaseen scored for Jordan but Kuwait got late goals from Hamza Al-Dardour and Musaed Neda to force a 2-2 draw.

Puerto Rico rallied for a 1-1 draw against Bermuda, Emmanuel D'Andrea equalising after Angelo Simmons' opener.
