Arsenal and England's Theo Walcott determined to rediscover best form

Arsenal and England forward Theo Walcott is confident he will soon be back to his best.

Walcott spent 10 months on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury that required surgery in January 2014.

He made his return to action in November but has since struggled for regular first-team action, making just three Premier League starts.

Walcott is set to start for England in their friendly with Italy on Tuesday night and is hopeful of recapturing his best form.

He told the FA's official website: "I've been out for a whole year -- you still have to work hard in training and when you get the opportunity in games you want to do the best that you can.

"If you take someone out of their job for a year, when they get back to it they won't be the same as when they left. I feel like I'm getting there and it's not going to be long before I'm back to my best."

Walcott also talked up England's growing strength in depth ahead of their meeting with Italy, who beat them 2-1 at last summer's World Cup.

He added: "We have a lot of competition in this squad, and that's what you want, it's healthy and it gives the manager a headache to pick the best lineup.

"We have great options, you want all the players playing well and going into a tournament you want everyone to be fit."
