Joachim Low, Carlo Ancelotti and Diego Simeone up for coach award

World Cup winner Joachim Low is the hot favourite to be named FIFA World Coach of the Year after being announced on the final shortlist for the 2014 award.

He is joined on the shortlist by Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti and Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone.

Low, 54, has been in charge of the Germany team since Jurgen Klinsmann's departure in 2006 and reached the pinnacle of the game when beating Argentina 1-0 in the World Cup final in July.

Ancelotti makes the list after leading Real Madrid to their La Decima European title, but they came within moments of defeat to Atletico in the Champions League final before Sergio Ramos levelled in stoppage time. Real went on to win the game 4-1 after extra-time.

Simeone completes the list after leading Atletico to a remarkable final day title triumph in La Liga, claiming the point they needed at the Camp Nou to finish ahead of both Barca and Real. Considering the gap in resources, and that Atletico had lost star striker Radamel Falcao, it was a stunning achievement to win La Liga and finish as runners-up in the Champions League.
