Ireland-England friendly date set

Football Association of Ireland officials have confirmed that England will visit Dublin for an international on June 7, 2015.

England played Republic of Ireland at Wembley Stadium last May, in what was the first fixture staged between the two nations since crowd trouble caused the referee to abandon a friendly in 1995 after 27 minutes.

Next year's match will serve as preparation for the two countries, as Republic tackle Scotland in a Euro 2016 qualifier on Saturday June 13, while the Three Lions face Slovenia in their European Championship qualifier on June 14.

When the Irish and English met last year the game ended in a 1-1 draw after Frank Lampard cancelled out Shane Long's opener.
