Bale ruled out of Ireland friendly
Gareth Bale will miss Wales’ friendly against Republic of Ireland on Wednesday after failing to overcome a foot injury.
Wales boss Chris Coleman had selected Bale in his squad for the game despite the player failing to take part in recent friendly matches for his club, Tottenham, saying the problem was “nothing that we are worried about”.
The 24-year-old trained on his own in Newport on Monday, but it was then decided that he would not be risked against Ireland, with the Press Association reporting he had concerns that aggravating the injury could jeopardise a potential move to Real Madrid.
Bale has not featured for Tottenham in almost a month.
