Indian Super League side Odisha FC have announced that they have parted ways with head coach Josep Gombau.

"The club has reached this decision based on its ambitions and the standards that have been set for the present and foreseeable future," the statement read.

"OFC would like to thank Josep for his contributions in various capacities over the course of his tenure and wishes him the best for the future."

Under Gombau, Odisha FC started the season well but found it difficult to keep up with the consistency. They made it to the playoffs after finishing sixth on the table with 30 points in total.

Odisha's hopes of making it to the semifinals came to an end on March 4 when they lost their knockout match to ATK Mohun Bagan 2-0.

This was Gombau's second stint with Odisha (earlier Delhi Dynamos) having coached the side for two year from 2018 to 2020.

The club will participate in the upcoming Super Cup in Kerala, starting from April 6, however the management did not mention whether a new coach will be appointed before they kickstart their Super Cup campaign.

Meanwhile in the semifinals of the ISL, Bengaluru FC will look to maintain their winning run in the second-leg against Mumbai City, having won the first game 1-0 thanks to the goal from Sunil Chhetri.

In the other semifinal, Hyderabad FC will travel to Kolkata to play ATK Mohun with their first leg ending in a goalless draw.
