Owen Coyle officially confirmed that he is leaving as Jamshedpur FC head coach on Tuesday, saying that he is returning home for family reasons. The 55-year-old Scotsman was with the Indian Super League club for two seasons and led Jamshedpur FC to the League Shield in this edition, before the team exited in the semi-final. "With a heavy heart, I am obviously very sad to tell you that I won't be continuing this journey together as I have had to return home for family reasons," Coyle said in a statement shared by the club. "However, if I am to return to India in the future, we have agreed upon that Jamshedpur will be my first choice to work at if my services are required at the time. I have a massive attachment to the club and I consider it like home." During his tenure, he lifted club to the sixth place in 2020-21, just 4 points away from the top-4 places and then to the top of table in 2021-22. They then lost to eventual runners-up Kerala Blasters in the semi-final. He had earlier been the coach of Chennaiyin FC, leading the team from bottom of the table to the ISL final. During his playing career, Coyle played for several clubs in England and Scotland, including the likes of Bolton Wanderers and Motherwell FC. He has previously managed English premiership teams -- Burnley and Bolton Wanderers -- and helped the former get promoted to the Premier League in 2009. It is believed that he will be heading home to manage Scotland club Queen's Park.
