ISL 2021-22 playoffs: Jamshedpur win League Shield; with Hyderabad FC, ATK Mohun Bagan and Kerala Blasters in semifinals

The league stage of the Indian Super League 2021-22 season ended on 7 March and the race for the playoff spots went down to the wire. Jamshedpur won their first ever trophy by lifting the League Shield, with Hyderabad FC, ATK Mohun Bagan and Kerala Blasters joining them in the semifinals.

Jamshedpur FC

Current position: 1 (Qualified)

Owen Coyle's side only needed to ensure a loss by a single goal margin in their final game against ATK Mohun Bagan, but went a whole three points better, earning a 1-0 win - thus setting a record points total in the Indian Super League.


Hyderabad FC

Hyderabad were the first team to qualify for the semifinals after their 2-1 win over Kerala Blasters, but ATK Mohun Bagan's 1-0 win over Chennaiyin saw them ruled them out of the league-shield race.

ATK Mohun Bagan needed to defeat Jamshedpur by a two-goal margin or more to win the league shield in their final game, but could only manage a 0-1 loss, thus consigning them to third place in the table.

Mumbai's loss means Kerala Blasters are through to the semifinals for the first time since 2016. 


Mumbai City FC

A 2-1 loss to Hyderabad means their title defence has ended prematurely. 


Bengaluru FC

A limp 0-2 loss to ATK Mohun Bagan ended Bengaluru FC's slim hopes of qualifying for the playoffs. A 1-0 win over SC East Bengal in their final game ensured a sixth-placed finish.


Odisha FC

Odisha FC's 1-2 loss to Bengaluru, coupled with Mumbai's 1-0 win over SC East Bengal eliminated them from playoff contention.


Chennaiyin FC

Chennaiyin FC ended their season with a 0-1 loss to ATK Mohun Bagan that confirmed they would finish no higher than eight.
