Sandesh Jhingan set to leave Kerala Blasters - sources

Sandesh Jhingan is set to part ways with Kerala Blasters, ESPN understands. After six seasons with the Indian Super League club, Jhingan will be leaving just as the Blasters have appointed their 10th manager in six years in Kibu Vicuna.

ESPN understands that he has been in touch with clubs from UK and Australia, though India's low FIFA ranking rules him out of the former. There are also reports of a possible move to Qatar.

The centre-back won the 'Emerging Player of the Year' award in his, and the ISL's, first season and was a mainstay as Kerala Blasters reached the final. He would cement his place down the years, making 76 appearances for the club, even as the team around him underwent sweeping changes.

From the 2018-19 season, he was named the club captain.

Last August the 26-year-old suffered an ACL injury that kept him on the sidelines for the whole of the 2019-20 season, in which Kerala Blasters finished well outside the playoff places in seventh, having conceded 32 goals (third highest in the league).
