Mumbai sign Brazilian striker Thiago Cunha

Mumbai City FC have signed Brazilian striker Thiago Cunha as a replacement for the injured Gaston Sangoy in the ongoing ISL season.

Thiago, who has represented Palmeiras and Santa Cruz in the Brazilian Serie A, has won the 2011 Brazilian Pernambucano State Championship, as well as the 2010 Brazilian Paraibano State Championship. Since 2012, he has scored 57 goals for Thai Port FC and Chonburi FC.

Mumbai's head coach Alexandre Guimaraes felt that 31-year-old Thiago was a worthy replacement for Sangoy, who is currently suffering from a fractured right foot.

"While losing Gaston to injury was a big blow, in Thiago we have found a great replacement. He has a brilliant goal scoring record and we are confident he is going to be a big asset to the club in the remainder of the season," Guimaraes said.

Mumbai are currently fourth in the ISL table, with just two wins from six matches.
