FC Pune City has signed Argentina's Gustavo Oberman for the 2016 edition of the Indian Super League.

Oberman was a part of the Argentina U-20 team that won the World Cup in 2005. After beginning his professional career at Argentino Juniors in 2003, he went on to play for River Plate, CD Castellon, CFR Cluj and Cordoba CF, among other clubs.

"I have heard great things about the country and the football fans here," Oberman said. "I hope to see all of that during my stint with FC Pune City and make an indelible impression on the fans, especially the Orange Army."

Head coach Antonio Habas said Oberman has a knack of making chances from unexpected positions.

"Gustavo is a midfielder with a penchant for attacking," Pune City CEO Gaurav Modwel said. "He is adept to lead the second line of attack for the team and his game awareness is something that we were very impressed with."

Pune City is co-owned by the Rajesh Wadhawan Group and film actor Hrithik Roshan.

"Gustavo adds a new flavor to our side," Roshan said. "His sheer intensity and love for the sport is something that many young players of our team will get to learn a lot from."
