I-League: Aizawl FC ease past Churchill Brothers

Aizawl FC registered a 3-1 win over Churchill Brothers FC Goa at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl, Mizoram.

While Ansumana Kromah (33′) put the visitors ahead in the first half, Lalramchullova (62′) and Kamo Stephane Bayi (69′) found the net in the second half to bring Aizawl FC back in their title hunt. Banpynkhrawnam Nongkhlaw (77′) then scored an own-goal, to seal the game on the home team's favour.

In the first half, Anthony Wolfe was fouled by Zohmingliana Ralte inside the box. The away team was awarded a penalty which was converted by Kromah to give Churchill a 1-0 lead.

A few minutes later, Lalramchullova took a free kick from the centre of the pitch, which was headed by Jayesh Rane towards the box. Churchill defenders, however, cleared the attack before Aizawl could move in.

The first half ended in a favourable position for the away team.

The second half started with Albino Gomes' skills as a keeper being tested when Churchill winger Gabriel Fernandes kicked the ball straight towards him. Alfred Jaryan, in the 55th minute, made a spectacular shot from outside the box but it flew over the bar.

In the 62nd minute, the home team were awarded a penalty when Lalramchullova's shot leveled the scores for the teams.

In the 68th minute, Jayesh Rane's pass was received by Kamo, who defeated Meldon D'Silva in a one-on-one position to help Aizwal take a lead of 2-1.

Churchill Brothers made an error ten minutes later, when Nongkhlaw scored an own goal in his attempt to clear the ball in the 76th minute -- leading to Aizawl's eventual victory.
