Hungary boss Bernd Storck 'speechless' after draw with Portugal

Hungary coach Bernd Storck has said he is "speechless" after his side's 3-3 draw with Group F opponents Portugal.

Hungary opened their Euro 2016 campaign with 2-0 win over Austria, before drawing 1-1 with Iceland after Birkir Mar Saevarsson's late own goal gifted them a point.

However, despite these two impressive performances against fellow Group E underdogs, Storck was best pleased with their efforts against Euro 2012 semifinalists Portugal.

"I think it's a dream for the whole of Hungary -- I'm speechless," Storck said. "The fans really supported us in the two previous games, but today it was even better.

"It's a big compliment for our team, we played better today than in the first two games.

"We knew it was going to be very hard, we had to play against a very organised team, we wanted to attack, score, and even if Portugal came back and scored we attacked.

"We had some luck too, but chapeau to the side for their progress in this tournament."

Hungary's last notable achievement on the international stage was in 2009 when they finished third at the Under-20 World Cup.

However, Storck doesn't put their achievement of topping Group F down to the younger players progressing from their achievement from seven years ago.

"I don't know how many of the 2009 team are here, maybe two or three," Storck added. "I don't want to talk about the past, I want to talk about the future.

"This team deserves we talk about them. They deserve to be spoken about."

Storck was also impressed by senior player Zoltan Gera, who scored the opening goal with a long range strike from outside the box. He said: "I actually wanted to rest him. He's 37! [It was] a world-class performance from him."

Hungary will now face the runners-up in Group E on June 26 in a bid for quarterfinal spot.
