Honduras down French Guiana to cement place in CONCACAF Gold Cup

Honduras claimed the final available place in July's CONCACAF Gold Cup after beating French Guiana 4-3 on aggregate in San Pedro Sula on Sunday.

Anderlecht midfielder Andy Najar starred for Los Catrachos, netting two goals to help Jorge Luis Pinto's men recover from a 3-1 first leg deficit.

Honduras will join Panama, Haiti and reigning champions the United States in Group A.

The Gold Cup kicks off on July 7.

Also on Sunday, four CONCACAF countries advanced to the second round of World Cup qualifying.

Bermuda got two goals from Nahki Wells and beat Bahamas 3-0 to advance 8-0 on aggregate. They will face Guatamela in the two-legged second round.

Nicaragua also won 3-0 to advance 8-0 on aggregate at the expense of Anguilla. Raul Leguias scored twice for Nicaragua, who move on to face Suriname.

Dominica will next face Canada, the highest-ranked team in the second round, after completing a 0-0 draw with British Virgin Islands to advance 3-2 on aggregate.

Belize managed a 1-1 draw in the Cayman Islands to advance on away goals after a goalless first leg. Belize will face the Dominican Republic when the second round begins in June.

The final tie of the first round will conclude Tuesday in Montserrat, where the hosts will have to rally back from a 2-1 deficit from the first leg in Curacao. The winner will face Cuba.
