Hertha: Ramos is not joining Dortmund

Hertha Berlin have denied reports that star striker Adrian Ramos is set to move to domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund, after claims in the German media that the deal was all but done.

The 28-year-old forward has been linked with BVB for several months now, and rumours of a switch to the 2013 Champions League finalists only gathered pace when several German publications picked up a Sky Italia rumour suggesting a transfer had been agreed.

Since breaking the story of Pep Guardiola’s appointment as Bayern Munich coach in January 2013, Sky Italia has become a trusted source for transfer information in Germany.

This week Sport Bild not only picked up the story, but claimed, with its own source, that in early February, during a “secret meeting” in Berlin Ramos and Dortmund had reached an agreement over a move.

According to the paper, Dortmund are ready to pay 11 million euros for the Colombian attacker, who currently tops the Bundesliga scorer list with 14 goals, one ahead of the outgoing Bayern-bound BVB striker Robert Lewandowski.

Throughout the recent weeks, Hertha officials have reiterated that they have not been approached by any club over a potential transfer for Ramos.

Moreover, the Berliners’ sporting director Michael Preetz stated several times that Berlin have offered the forward a contract extension, with his current deal up in 2015.

“By now, we are getting sick of having to comment any reports,” Hertha Berlin press officer Peter Bohmbach told Berliner Zeitung, and noted that Hertha have made Ramos a lucrative ready-to-sign-offer.

Berlin coach Jos Luhukay also refused to comment further on the Ramos situation on Thursday: “When you get occupied with those questions, you soon lose the focus for the challenges of the here and now.”

Ramos has so far not commented to the German press on the speculation surrounding his future.
