Luca Toni has signed a one-year contract extension with Hellas Verona.

The Gialloblu gambled on the veteran striker after winning promotion from Serie B last summer and were well rewarded -- the former Fiorentina and Bayern Munich man scored 20 Serie A goals.

Toni, 37, had been considering leaving the club in pursuit of a new challenge, but will instead push on towards reaching 300 career goals while wearing the colours of Verona.

A statement published on Verona's official website read: "Hellas Verona announce that Luca Toni has extended his contract until June 30, 2015."

Toni made his senior debut for Modena in 1994 but had to wait almost a decade before making a name for himself by scoring 30 goals to help Palermo win promotion to the Italian top flight.

He subsequently helped Fiorentina qualify for the Champions League, finished as top scorer in the 2007-08 Bundesliga season for Bayern, and enjoyed a brief spell with Al-Nasr of Dubai in 2012.
