Hearts sack coach Frank Nuttall

Ghana Premier League side Accra Hearts of Oak have dismissed coach Frank Nuttall over what the club alleges were 'behaviours in direct conflict with the interest of the club'.

The management had come to the decision after a three-person team investigated allegations of 'underground dealings' in the transfer of players from the Phobians. Nuttall was suspended earlier this month while the investigation was ongoing.

Hearts claim the former Gor Mahia coach actively encouraged players to leave the club by introducing them to agents behind the scenes.

The club statement read: "Upon receiving allegations about certain underground dealings by Mr. Nuttall, the Board constituted a three-person committee to investigate the facts of the case and give the coach an opportunity to defend himself against the said allegations.

"After a thorough review of the facts and hearing Nuttall's defence, the committee was unanimous in its recommendation to the full Board that his contract be terminated.

"According to the committee's report, coach Nuttall admitted to his involvement in aiding and introducing players of the club to agents and vice versa without the knowledge of the management of the club.

"Effective immediately, assistant coach Henry Wellington has been asked to take charge of the first team duties and will serve as interim head coach until further notice."

Scotsman Nuttall has not made any public comments since the allegations surfaced last week.
