Bruno Labbadia extends Hamburg contract by one season to 2017

HAMBURG, GERMANY -- Hamburg coach Bruno Labbadia has extended his contract with the club by another year.

The Bundesliga side say the 49-year-old Labbadia, whose contract ran to the end of this season, has signed a deal through June 2017, along with assistant coaches Eddy Soezer and Bernhard Trares.

Hamburg chief executive Dietmar Beiersdorfer said: "Bruno is taking on our joint task with passion and enthusiasm and he identifies strongly with Hamburg and the club. Bruno Labbadia is living our club."

Labbadia took over for his second stint in April 2015 and helped the troubled side stave off relegation through a playoff. This season has seen a vast improvement despite low expectations. Hamburg are 10th during the Bundesliga's winter break.
