Valon Behrami: No fight with Hamburg teammate Johan Djourou - I slipped

Hamburg midfielder Valon Behrami has claimed that he slipped and fell to the ground during his confrontation with teammate Johan Djourou.

Switzerland internationals Djourou and Behrami were involved in a fight at half-time when Hamburg were trailing Wolfsburg 1-0 last Saturday.

The club have since fined both players ahead of their trip to Werder Bremen this weekend, when Djourou will be suspended after being sent off against Wolfsburg.

Speaking to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Behrami has said that he did not fight his teammate.

"We were discussing a scene from the first half, and had contrary standpoints. Because we conceded the first goal in the aftermath of that scene tempers were flying," he said in quotes reported by Bild.

"We faced each other, but did not hit each other. The floor in dressing room was slippy, and all of a sudden I just fell to the ground. He [Djourou] did nothing. There has been no fight, you'd be able to still see the traces from it today."

The former West Ham midfielder, who joined Hamburg after two years at Napoli, indicated his future lies away from Hamburg.

He added: "It'd be a huge satisfaction to avoid relegation. But in spite of all of that: Hamburg remains a negative experience for me."

Hamburg are currently bottom of the Bundesliga table, and this week they appointed Bruno Labbadia as their new manager.
