Chivas players protest club directors before CCL second leg vs. Toronto FC

GUADALAJARA, Mexico -- Chivas players have once again complained about the club's directors, just four days ahead of the CONCACAF Champions League final, second leg, against Toronto in Estadio Chivas.

Twenty-one members of the first team squad took a photo together and sent it out on social networks on Saturday using the hashtag #DirectivaCumplanSuParte ("Directors fulfill your part"). The statement comes just three weeks after widespread reports that players were unhappywith the lack of bonus payments, communication with the directors, travel logistics and even nutrition.

ESPN Mexico reported that the squad held a meeting with club directors on Saturday at Chivas' training center in Guadalajara, but that the players weren't satisfied and then decided to protest online.

"Wednesday is for us, the badge and you, the best fans," wrote the players in identical messages on social networks. "We want another title!"

"Fans and players are united! We are Chivas!"

Chivas head into Wednesday's CCL final second-leg with a 2-1 advantage over Toronto FC, with the Guadalajara looking to win its first continental title since 1962.

Yet theirs wasn't the only protest in Liga MX this weekend, with the Necaxa players not meeting up as usual the night before Saturday's 1-1 home draw with Tigres, reportedly in protest at missed bonus payments for the club's Copa MX final victory over Toluca on April 11.

There is also an ongoing discussion over the future of Liga MX's "Pacto de Caballeros," with players meeting Mexican federation officials and Liga MX club directors last week. An agreement over the pact, which doesn't allow free movement for players after contracts come to an end, is expected to be announced next week.
