Low names Germany squad for World Cup qualifiers against Czechs, Norway

Germany boss Joachim Low has named his squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Czech Republic and Norway, with its basis made up of 17 players who won the Confederations Cup this summer.

There is no place for Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer or Manchester City's Ilkay Gundogan, both recovering from injuries suffered last season, while no Borussia Dortmund players have been selected.

Mats Hummels, Thomas Muller, Mario Gomez, Sami Khedira, Toni Kroos and Mesut Ozil all return.

Coach Joachim Low said: "We want to qualify quickly for the World Cup as group champions, so our goal for the two games can only be to win them."

Germany travel to Prague to face Czech Republic on Sept. 1 and host Norway in Stuttgart on Monday, Sept. 4.

Low's side are top of Group C with a 100 percent record, having conceded only one goal in their qualifying campaign so far.

The coach urged fans to provide "a good atmosphere in Stuttgart" and praised Norway counterpart Lars Lagerback for his work with outsiders Iceland at last summer's European Championship.
