Joachim Low pleased as six make debut in Germany draw with Denmark

Germany handed six players, including Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, their first caps during the 1-1 draw with Denmark on Tuesday.

A late Joshua Kimmich overhead kick secured the draw in Copenhagen, after Denmark had taken an early lead through Christian Eriksen.

In the absence of Thomas Muller, Mesut Ozil, Toni Kroos, Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels and several more, head coach Joachim Low fielded an inexperience side with a total of just 107 caps.

PSG's Trapp, Borussia Monchengladbach forward Lars Stindl and Hoffenheim's central attacker Sandro Wagner made their debuts and started the game, while Ajax winger Amin Younes, Hertha Berlin full-back Marvin Plattenhardt and Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay also won their first caps when coming on during the second half.

"There were more positives than negatives," Low told reporters following the match. "It was a good test of where we are. We only had one training session, so I'm very happy.

"The commitment levels from everyone was very good, we can work on coordination in the coming days."

Julian Draxler, one of only two 2014 World Cup winners in the starting XI, captained Germany and later said "the draw was deserved."

The PSG midfielder added: "It's a big honour to be captain. But I know that a few things were lacking. I will use the Confed Cup as a chance to prove my qualities as a leader."

Germany take on San Marino on Saturday in a World Cup qualifier in Nuremberg and will then head to the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia where they are in Group B alongside Australia, Chile and Cameroon.
