Manuel Neuer, Julian Brandt pull out of Germany squad for San Marino game

Manuel Neuer and Julian Brandt have withdrawn from the Germany squad ahead of the World Cup qualifier against San Marino on Friday and the friendly against Italy on Tuesday.

Germany departed for Italy on Wednesday without Bayern Munich goalkeeper Neuer, whom the German Football Association said felt unwell, and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Brandt who has an infection.

Joachim Low now has only 21 players available for selection, including two goalkeepers, but press officer Jens Grittner confirmed on Twitter that no replacements would be called up.

Earlier this week, Bayern defender Jerome Boateng withdrew from the Germany squad with knee problems and Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos had to pull out after breaking a bone in his right foot during Sunday's 3-0 La Liga win at home to Leganes.

Germany are also without Julian Draxler, who tore a muscle, and Dortmund's Andre Schurrle, who only returned from a longer injury in recent days.
