Germany defender Jerome Boateng thanked the national team's medical staff for "going full throttle" to help his recovery after scoring his first international goal.
The Bayern Munich centre-back had been struggling with a calf injury but was able to start the 3-0 defeat of Slovakia.
And Boateng, 27, struck in his 63rd appearance for Die Nationalmannschaft when he fired in a fine volley from outside the box after seven minutes.
He had been substituted with the calf problem in the 1-0 win against Northern Ireland and, after scoring against Slovakia, celebrated with team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt and physio Klaus Eder.
"They went full throttle, and without them I would not have been able to play," he told ZDF TV.
"I saw the ball was coming, and I needed to rush to get it. I hit it really well.
"It was about time. I already said before the tournament that it [his first Germany goal] has to happen soon."
