Germany's Mesut Ozil: We will find form at Euro 2016 despite struggles

Mesut Ozil insists Germany will rediscover their form at the European Championship despite failing to convince since their 2014 World Cup success.

Although they finished top of their Euro 2016 qualifying group, Germany have been struggling for form and results since Brazil, losing to Poland, Ireland, United States, Argentina, England, France and Slovakia.

They have also not kept a clean sheet since a 7-0 win at Gibraltar in June last year, while there are a number of fitness concerns. Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mats Hummels -- key members of the 2014 squad -- will go into the tournament carrying injuries, and Ilkay Gundogan and Marco Reus will miss the tournament altogether.

However, Germany have frequently gone into tournaments amid concerns over their form and have still made it to the semifinal stage at every tournament since the 2006 World Cup.

Ozil, who enjoyed an impressive 2015-16 campaign with Arsenal, told kicker: "The media has always been nervous before the tournaments.

"It was always said that we will not achieve anything because we're too weak, but we have always been there when the tournament started.

"We not only fought and always at least reached the last four, but also played beautiful football. You will see a different German team than in the past two years [at Euro 2016]."

In 2012, Germany's Euro campaign ended at the semifinal stage when they were beaten 2-1 by Italy.

Ozil said: "I want more this time. I want to give it my all so that we win the trophy."
