Joachim Low wants Germany to go for goals against Gibraltar

Germany are targeting "a few goals" against Gibraltar in their final Euro 2016 qualifier of the 2014-15 season, coach Joachim Low has said.

Speaking at a news conference in Faro, Portugal, where the game is being played, Low urged his team to produce an intense performance against the minnows.

Germany took only one point from their October matches at Poland and at home to Ireland, but are currently second in Group D with crucial games against Poland, Scotland and Ireland to come later this year.

"We want to score a few goals. The sooner we score, the better it is," Low said. "But these games [against smaller nations] are not about the result for me, but rather about the manner of our performance."

The coach said he would give veteran Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller a start.

And although he added that "the future belongs to our young keepers" -- Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Leverkusen's Timo Horn -- he stressed: "Roman has been an incredibly important for us."

Jerome Boateng, who was rested in the 2-1 friendly defeat to the United States earlier this week, returns to the starting XI.

Low said other than that "there won't be many changes" and insisted his players were not "in a holiday mode."

Those words were echoed by midfielder Sami Khedira, who said: "We have to give it our all one more time."
