Silvia Neid will step down as the head coach of the Germany women's national team in 2016 with former international Steffi Jones to take over, the German FA (DFB) has announced. Neid has served as Germany's head coach since 2005, leading the women's side to one World Cup trophy in 2007 as well as two European Championships in 2009 and 2013. The two-time FIFA World Coach of the Year for Women's Football will stay with the DFB and join the scouting team for women's football, the association announced on its official website. Neid will still be in charge when Germany compete at the 2015 World Cup in Canada later this summer, and the 50-year-old wants to end her 11-year-stint in the dugout on a high. "It's good that the future has already been planned as it means we can now fully concentrate on the World Cup in Canada," Neid said. "I am motivated for the future because we have big targets to achieve." In September 2016, she will pass on the duties to former Germany international Jones. The half-American 42-year-old has been with the DFB for a number of years, but in a more administrative role. Still, DFB president Wolfgang Niersbach feels the Germany job is in safe hands with the former defender. "Silvia Neid has achieved a lot in the industry and her experience will be crucial in her new role," he said. "Steffi Jones has been involved in the setup for a number of years and knows the game well. We're certain that she is the correct successor to Neid."
