Andre Schurrle pulls out of Germany squad to face Gibraltar and Spain

Andre Schurrle has withdrawn from the Germany squad for their upcoming internationals after illness led him to miss out on a significant amount of training in recent weeks.

The Nationalmannschaft take on Gibraltar in a Euro 2016 qualifier on Friday, before travelling to Spain for a friendly on Nov. 18.

Joachim Low, however, will have to make do without Chelsea forward Schurrle, 24, who has not trained with the Blues as much as he would have liked to due to suffering from an infection.

"Andre Schurrle has pulled out of the Germany squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifier against Gibraltar and the following friendly against Spain," a statement released on the German Football Association's official website read.

"Schurrle could only complete a reduced training programme in October due to illness. After consulting Joachim Low, he will stay in London in order to complete individual training and optimise his fitness levels."

Schurrle will also miss Monday's award ceremony at the German Presidency in Berlin, where the squad will be given the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Joachim Gauck following their World Cup triumph in Brazil in July.

Low has opted against calling up a replacement to his squad, who will also attend the premiere of their World Cup movie "Die Mannschaft" on Monday.
