Manuel Neuer returns to team training

Manuel Neuer has returned to training with the Germany team as he bids to be fit for the World Cup opener against Portugal on June 16.

Neuer sustained a shoulder injury in the dying minutes of Bayern Munich's 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal final last month and has not been able to take part in training with his Germany teammates in the build-up to Brazil.

Dortmund keeper Roman Weidenfeller took his place in both Die Nationalmannschaft's warm-up matches, against Cameroon and Armenia, but Neuer was able to take part in Sunday's training session at Germany's Campo Bahia base and is expected to be available to Joachim Loew in time for their opening game.

It represents a welcome boost for Germany, who lost in-form attacker Marco Reus to injury after Friday's 6-1 win over Armenia, and all 23 players in Loew's squad now look set to be available for selection.
