Joachim Low has welcomed back Bayern Munich’s fit-again Bastian Schweinsteiger, Toni Kroos and Mario Gotze to his squad for Germany’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Germany currently sit on top of Group C and can edge a step closer to booking their place in Brazil next summer if they pick up wins against Austria on September 6 and Faroe Islands on September 10.
“It is our goal to make a further step to Brazil with two wins,” Low said.
For the first time since March, Low will be able to call on Schweinsteiger, while he could give captain Philipp Lahm his 100th cap.
Low has also included Borussia Monchengladbach’s Max Kruse and Bayer Leverkusen’s Sidney Sam, who made their Germany debuts during the trip to the United States in June, in his squad.
“During the U.S. trip both have shown they are good alternatives for our attacking department,” Low said.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski both missed out on selection, however, due to injury.
