Anger over Real Madrid loss can fuel Bayern Munich UCL bid - Ancelotti

Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has told Gazzetta dello Sport he wants his players to use the "anger" of last season's controversial defeat to Real Madrid as motivation to win the Champions League.

Bayern lost 4-2 in extra time at the Bernabeu to go out 6-3 on aggregate in the quarterfinals but were infuriated by several key decisions by referee Viktor Kassai.

"If there had been VAR [video assistant referees], we would not have lost in Madrid and we would not have been knocked out of the Champions...

Technical fault spoils Germany's first use of VAR at Super Cup

With only one win for Bayern in preseason, the FC crew ponder how much whether Carlo Ancelotti's side are in trouble.

German football's first competitive use of video assistant referees (VAR) failed due to a technical fault on Saturday when a debatable goal was awarded in the German Super Cup between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Robert Lewandowski scored for Bayern to level the game at 1-1 but the goal may have been offside following Sebastian Rudy's ball over the Dortmund defence.

Referee Felix Zwayer consulted VAR Tobias Stieler, who had to make a decision without all the technical tools he should have...

BVB chief warns Barca off Ousmane Dembele

Julien Laurens evaluates Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho as possible replacements for Neymar at Barcelona.

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has warned Barcelona off making a bid for Ousmane Dembele.

Barcelona are said to be interested in signing the 20-year-old France international as a replacement for Neymar, who completed his world-record €222 million move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Watzke, however, said that no amount of money would persuade Dortmund to do business -- not even a mooted €100m transfer.

"In every case, [the transfer fee is] not enough," Watzke told Eurosport during...

Nuri Sahin: Dortmund's Super Cup defeat leaves 'bitter' taste

Borussia Dortmund came up short against Bayern on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund's German Super Cup defeat on penalties to Bayern Munich left the team with a bitter feeling, midfielder Nuri Sahin said.

Dortmund twice took the lead but conceded an 88th-minute equaliser after a goalmouth scramble, and eventually fell 5-4 as the game went directly to a shootout.

Sahin insisted that Dortmund were in control of the game until the somewhat unfortunate own goal gave Bayern a lifeline.

Feyenoord beat Vitesse 4-2 on penalties to win the Dutch Super Cup on Saturday, in a match that featured a bizarre sequence of events involving the Video Assistant Referee.

The match finished 1-1 in regular time, with Jens Toornstra sending Feyenoord ahead inside the first 10 minutes before Vitesse equalised just after half-time in controversial circumstances.

After Vitesse midfielder Karim El Ahmadi appeared to be fouled in the box by Feyenoord's Tim Matavz, the referee waved play on and allowed...
