Borussia Dortmund eased to a 5-0 win away at third-tier Magdeburg to advance to the DFB Pokal third round on Tuesday night. Dortmund were frustrated for nearly the entire first half after hitting the post early on, before Gonzalo Castro finally broke the deadlock with a 41st-minute tap-in. But the second half was one-sided as Swedish teenager Alexander Isak scored his first Dortmund goal two minutes after the break. Andriy Yarmolenko then added a penalty, Marc Barta's header following a corner made it 4-0, and Shinji Kagawa scored with the final kick of the game to make it five on the night. Lucas Alario's looping header and a pair of late goals helped Bayer Leverkusen defeat Union Berlin 4-1. Julian Brandt put Leverkusen ahead in the 36th minute by dancing through the Berlin defence and scoring with the outside of his boot. The second-tier side equalised in the first minute of the second half when Dennis Daube pounced on a loose ball, but Leverksen restored their lead 12 minutes later through Alario after a poor defensive clearance. Wendell's 89th-minute penalty put the game out of reach and, after Berlin's Stephan Furstner was sent off in stoppage time, Charles Aranguiz added a fourth from a free kick. Thorgan Hazard scored the only only goal as Borussia Monchengladbach won 1-0 away to Fortuna Dusseldorf in a Mittelrhein derby. Goalkeeper Raphael Wolf could not stop Hazard's low shot in the 52nd minute despite the ball striking his leg. Dusseldorf had a chance to equalise but Niko Giesselmann missed a 73rd-minute penalty. Daniel Brosinski's perfect free kick in extra-time saw Mainz through despite a tough challenge from Holstein Kiel. Viktor Fischer scored in either half for Mainz, but each time his goal was answered by a penalty for the visitors. But Brosinski stepped up in the 101st minute to send a free kick over the way and Mainz into the third round. Schalke cruised to a 3-1 win away to third-tier Wehen Wiesbaden. Franco Di Santo scored his first goal in nearly 600 days to put Schalke ahead on 26 minutes, before Guido Burgstaller doubled the lead four minutes later with a chipped effort. Wehen defender Alf Mintzel headed into his own net under pressure from Burgstaller in the second half, and David Blacha's consolation goal was not enought to mount a comeback. Sebastien Haller scored twice as Eintracht Frankfurt ended the dreams of fourth-tier Schweinfurt with a 4-0 win. Haller scored in each half before Marius Wolf added a third after the hour mark for the top-flight club, and Danny Blum capped the scoring late on. Third-tier Paderborn advanced as Sven Michel's early goal led to a 2-0 win over Bochum, who missed a penalty before Jan Gyamerah second-half dismissal allowed Massih Wassey to add a late second. Ingolstadt rallied from a goal down to advance past fellow second-division club Greuther Furth 3-1. David Raum put the hosts ahead just after half-time, but Ingolstadt got a penalty moments later and Almog Cohen equalised from the spot. Stefan Lex then scored the winner seven minutes from time, and U.S. international Alfredo Morales put the game out of reach.
