Dortmund's Mats Hummels: I'm under pressure for cup final against Bayern

Mats Hummels has admitted he will be under "immense pressure" when he captains Borussia Dortmund against future employers Bayern Munich in the DFB Pokal final on Saturday.

Hummels, 27, is set to play his final game for Dortmund in the cup final this weekend despite having agreed to join opponents Bayern this summer.

"I am aware that an immense pressure is on me," he told reporters. "If I make a mistake, the people will say that I already had my mind in Munich."

Hummels was booed by fans at the Westfalenstadion during the victory over Wolfsburg on April 30 but, on his final home appearance for the club against Cologne on Saturday, he was received more warmly.

The Germany international, who left Bayern for Dortmund eight-and-a-half years ago, was not given an official send-off given the looming cup final but is hoping to end his time at the club on a high.

"I will give it my all, 100 percent, and throw everything into it that I have left in me," he said.

Hummels, who will be playing in his sixth final for Dortmund, was asked whether he would consider taking a penalty on Saturday if the match were to go to a shootout.

The centre-back suggested he would not, likening his situation to that of former Germany captain Lothar Matthaus, who sent his penalty in the 1984 DFB Pokal final over the crossbar in his last match for Borussia Monchengladbach before his transfer to opponents Bayern.

He said: "Wow, you'd have to wait and see how I feel then, but I don't really know if I should take one. I believe that you have 20 tons on your shoulders in that case."

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, speaking on Bayrischer Rundfunk during the club's title celebrations, said Hummels may find it difficult to maintain his usual focus this weekend.

"I can only advise him to give it his all for the club he is contracted to until June 30," he said. "That's his task, his obligation.

"It's part of the sense of fair play in football -- he has to do everything for Borussia Dortmund. Without a question it will be a weird match [for him] and not easy psychologically."
