Divock Origi: No contact with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp since loan move

Wolfsburg loanee Divock Origi has said he is not currently in contact with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp but was happy to see his parent club storm to a 7-0 Champions League win at Maribor on Tuesday.

Origi, 22, joined Wolfsburg on a season-long loan, and the Belgium international has scored twice in his first six games for the Bundesliga side.

But while Wolfsburg's struggles from last season have continued under new head coach Martin Schmidt, Liverpool ended their recent poor run in emphatic style.

"Liverpool have deserved it," Origi told reporters on Wednesday. "It's always good when the folks there are all satisfied, and you need those good results for that."

However, he added that he was not thinking about what would happen when he returns to Anfield next summer.

"I must focus on myself. The future will show what happens. You never know in football.

"He [Klopp] is focused on Liverpool, and I am focused on my task here."

In the absence of club captain Mario Gomez, Origi has played in a central role in Wolfsburg's attack, and Schmidt said earlier this week that he is "that step ahead" of the former Bayern Munich star.

But Origi praised Gomez, who has returned from an ankle injury, as one of the club's key players.

"He's the captain. Even in training you can see his importance. I can learn a lot from him," he said.

"Mario is top in the box, and to be honest I also like to play up front.

"But my quality also is to come from a deeper position. I can play on the wings, and get drawn to the goal from there."
