Bayern Munich return to winning ways as Dortmund slip up at Frankfurt

Bayern Munich got back to winning ways in the Bundesliga with a 2-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

Thiago Alcantara gave Carlo Ancelotti's men the lead and Mats Hummels headed the winner in the second half after Hakan Calhanoglu had levelled before the break.

The win came at the end of a week in which Bayern had lost in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League, yet it was a far from convincing display by the defending champions.

Borussia Dortmund were brought back down to earth by improving Eintracht Frankfurt, who moved into the Bundesliga's top three with a 2-1 win at the Waldstadion.

Szabolcs Huszti and Haris Seferovic scored the goals for Niko Kovac's men, who responded strongly after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had levelled for the visitors.

Hoffenheim extended their unbeaten start to the season to 12 games and Borussia Monchengladbach's wait for a league win to seven matches with a 1-1 draw at the Borussia Park Stadion.

Although Gladbach are on a poor run they looked confident on the ball and it was no surprise when they took the lead through Mahmoud Dahoud in the 25th minute.

Lars Stindl should have added to early in the second half but failed to beat Oliver Baumann, and Nadiem Amiri brought Hoffenheim level a few minutes later to earn Julian Nagelsmann's men a point.

Hamburg and Werder Bremen remain burdened by relegation worries after they drew 2-2 at the Volksparkstadion.

Michael Gregoritsch gave hosts Hamburg the lead with a header from Lewis Holtby's cross in the third minute, but Fin Bartels levelled just 10 minutes later.

Gregoritsch struck again in the 28th minute, but Serge Gnabry's effort on the stroke of half-time proved enough to earn Bremen a point, meaning they hold a four-point advantage over their local rivals.

Daniel Caligiuri struck for Wolfsburg to claim a 1-1 draw against FC Ingolstadt 04, who had gone ahead through Anthony Jung.

High-flying Cologne were held to a goalless draw at home to Augsburg. The visitors extended their unbeaten streak to three games thanks to a stern defensive display which shut out 12-goal striker Anthony Modeste.
