Hertha Berlin's John Brooks may be rested after next international break

Hertha Berlin coach Pal Dardai is considering resting United States defender John Brooks after the next international break.

Brooks, 23, made his seventh Bundesliga start for Hertha in the 0-0 draw at Augsburg on Saturday, only a few days after returning from his trip to the U.S., in which he played the full game as Jurgen Klinsmann's side lost to Mexico and Costa Rica.

Dardai had contemplated giving the defender a break at Augsburg, but then opted to play him in order to give his side a height advantage at set-pieces.

However, he questioned that decision afterwards, saying: "I believe that I need to reconsider next time he's travelling overseas, and can't train with us.

"When you are that tall, and travel that much, then it just wasn't good for him, he did not look that good out there."

Hertha sporting director Michael Preetz added in kicker: "[Brooks] appeared to be a bit insecure and still had to deal with the internationals a bit."

The draw allowed Hertha to remain part of a five-team chasing pack that sits six points behind Bundesliga leaders RB Leipzig and three behind Bayern Munich.
