RB Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuttl unhappy with 'tight' schedule

RB Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuttl has bemoaned the "tight" schedule between the end of the international break and his side's match at Bayer Leverkusen on Friday.

The Bundesliga's surprise package, second to Bayern Munich on goal difference, have yet to suffer a league defeat.

On Friday they face a crunch match at Bayer Leverkusen, who won three consecutive games, including a Champions League victory over Tottenham at Wembley, before the international break.

Leipzig, like most other Bundesliga teams, will only be able to train with a full squad from Wednesday when the last few players -- Sweden's Emil Forsberg, Hungary's Peter Gulacsi and Austria's Marcel Sabitzer and Stefan Ilsanker -- return from international duty.

"That's tight," Hasenhuttl told reporters on Monday. "There won't be a lot of opportunities to tactically prepare for the opponent with all of the squad.

"We need to put everything in the few training sessions we have. We might only have one."

On Monday, Hasenhuttl was able to welcome Germany under-21 internationals Timo Werner and Davie Selke back to training after both returned early from Germany's youth team.

The club expect Guinea's Naby Keita and Greece international Kyriakos Papadopoulos to return to Leipzig on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Leverkusen coach Roger Schmidt told Bild: "We have our own goals. We want to climb the standings.

"My team made a good impression before the international break, and we want to build on it. The opponent plays a subordinate role."

Earlier in October, Schmidt was banned for two games after calling Hoffenheim coach Julian Nagelsmannn a "nutcase."

He said: "I am in fight mode during a match and want to ensure our success. But I am aware that I need to have a better grip on my emotions."
