Bayern Munich's Kingsley Coman sidelined with injury for two months

Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman has been ruled out for the rest of the year after damaging his left knee and ankle while on international duty with the France national team.

Coman, 20, returned to Munich for medical tests after picking up the injury in training at France Team HQ Clairfontaine on Thursday.

And the German champions said in a statement on Friday: "The Bayern winger has torn a ligament in his knee and sustained a capsular tear in his left ankle."

Coman suffered a similar injury in Bayern training on the eve of the new season and will not play again this year.

Earlier this week, Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti said he intended to sign Coman from Juventus on a permanent basis, with Bayern having secured an option to make the two-year loan move permanent for €21 million at the end of the season.

"Coman's future is with Bayern," he said. "We are all counting a lot on him. There's no chance of him returning to Juve."

Meanwhile, Javi Martinez will return to training on Monday ahead of schedule.

Martinez, 28, has not featured for the Bavarians since picking up a thigh muscle injury against Augsburg at the end of October.

If he comes through training unscathed, Bayern's record signing could make his comeback next Saturday at Borussia Dortmund.
