U.S. defender Timothy Chandler hopes to prolong Eintracht Frankfurt stay

United States international Timothy Chandler wants to stay at Eintracht Frankfurt "for a few years," " target="_blank">he has told Frankfurter Rundschau.

Chandler, 26, is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career and been one of the club's outstanding players.

The defender has started all 10 Bundesliga games and helped Die Adler win 18 points, as many as Borussia Dortmund.

On Saturday, Chandler set up Mijat Gacinovic for the winner in the 1-0 victory over Cologne and said: "I want to stay in Frankfurt, for a few years if possible. But that's up to the club. My wife and I feel at home here."

He is now in the final few months of his current deal, which he signed when re-joining from Nurnberg in 2014, and added: "Not a lot of teams had us on their radar because we got a lot of new players from abroad [in the summer].

"But I have to say that we are top group with a good atmosphere. The coaches know exactly how to treat us and how to steer us."

Frankfurt have used a three-man defence this term, meaning Chandler has been allowed to play a more attacking wing-back role.

"We full-backs play much higher, attack higher," he said. "You have to wait more when you play with four at the back.

"But the most important thing is that we make in-game changes and are more versatile."
