Bayern Munich held by 10-man Eintracht Frankfurt, Cologne go second

Bayern Munich were held to a 2-2 draw away to 10-man Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

Bayern took the lead through Arjen Robben before Szabolcs Huszti levelled just before the break, but they appeared on course for victory when Joshua Kimmich restored their lead on 62 minutes and Huszti picked up a second yellow soon afterwards.

However, U.S. international Timothy Chandler sent in a cross for Mexico's Marco Fabian to chest home on 78 minutes and Bayern had to settle for a point.

Carlo Ancelotti's side were beaten by Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and then held by Cologne in the Bundesliga in their previous two outings.

Cologne moved up to second behind Bayern thanks to a 2-1 win over struggling Ingolstadt, which extended their unbeaten start to the season to seven games.

Anthony Modeste put the Goats in front in the 28th minute, latching onto Yuya Osako's pass, before taking the ball down well and beating Orjan Nyland.

Modeste added his and Cologne's second 10 minutes later from the penalty spot after Osako was fouled by Tobias Levels, completing his third brace in the Bundesliga to take him to the top of the scoring charts with his seventh of the season.

Cologne did not need a third, but they were made to sweat it out late on when Lukas Hinterseer pulled one back for the guests from the penalty spot in the last minute, but it was too little too late for the Bavarians, who dropped to the foot of the table.

Ousman Manneh became the first Gambian player to score in the Bundesliga as Werder Bremen continued their revival under Alexander Nouri with a 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen.

Manneh's 13th-minute shot was excellently saved by Bernd Leno, but Zlatko Junuzovic was on hand to give the hosts the lead, though they were stunned when Leverkusen levelled against the run of play, the unmarked Hakan Calhanoglu heading in Kevin Kampl's cross.

The visitors then seemed to take control, but it was then Bremen's turn to score against the run of play. Junuzovic's shot was blocked by Wendell and Manneh struck the loose ball into the far corner.

Markus Weinzierl picked up a point on his return to his former club as his Schalke side were held to a 1-1 draw at Augsburg.

For the first time in the Bundesliga, goal-line technology was used to validate Nabil Bentaleb's 65th-minute goal, which put the visitors in front. His shot from just outside the penalty area bounced down off the crossbar and back into play, although the ball did cross the line with the referee's watch confirming as much.

Augsburg could have no arguments about the decision and they focused their efforts into finding an equaliser, which arrived in the 77th minute from the feet of Daniel Baier.

Borussia Monchengladbach missed two penalties as they were held to a goalless draw at home by 10-man Hamburg.

Gladbach should have taken the lead in the 26th minute when they were awarded their first penalty for Cleber's foul on Lars Stindl. The Hamburg man was sent off.

However, Andre Hahn's powerful spot kick was saved by Rene Adler, who guessed right to keep his team on terms. Gladbach were awarded another penalty on the hour mark and Hahn this time left Stindl the ball, but he struck the crossbar.

Hoffenheim took the honours in a Baden-Wurttemberg derby with a 2-1 win over Freiburg at the Rhein-Neckar Arena.

Sandro Wagner gave Hoffenheim the lead 10 minutes before half-time when he received a gift from Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu before rounding visiting keeper Alexander Schwolow and slotting into an open goal.

Florian Niederlechner brought Freiburg level in the 78th minute, with Soyuncu making amends for his earlier error by providing the assist.

The Turkish defender blotted his copybook once again two minutes later, though, fouling Sebastian Rudy inside the area to concede a penalty, which Andrej Kramaric dinked down the middle to earn Hoffenheim all three points.
