Antoine Griezmann responds to Franck Ribery: 'Everyone has an opinion'

Atletico Madrid Antoine Griezmann forward has responded to criticism from his fellow Frenchman Franck Ribery by saying "everyone has an opinion."

Speaking to Sport Bild, Ribery said that he did not believe Griezmann should be considered a world-class player after "one good season."

But Griezmann, who scored the away goal for Atletico that knocked Ribery's Bayern Munich out of the Champions League in April, offered a calm response.

"I will continue working. As he says, we'll see at the end what kind of player I am, but I know I'm on the right track," he told Eurosport.

"Everyone has an opinion. To my father, for example, I'm the best player in the world. To the fans of Atletico, too."

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo also came to the Griezmann's defense, while trying to downplay a rift between the players.

"Ribery is a little older," Cerezo said. "We must forgive him because he was a great player."

Griezmann's first cap for France in 2014 also turned out to be Ribery's last before he announced his international retirement.

They played a total of five minutes together in a friendly against the Netherlands.
