RB Leipzig's Timo Werner is youngest to play 100 Bundesliga games

RB Leipzig's Timo Werner has surpassed Julian Draxler's record as the youngest player to make 100 Bundesliga appearances.

Werner, aged 20 years and 203 days, came off the bench in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Cologne to beat Draxler's record by 22 days.

"I am happy to have made my 100th appearance and also as the youngest player. It's nice to read," Werner told the official Bundesliga website after the match.

The striker made his top flight debut when he came off the bench in Stuttgart's 1-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Aug. 17, 2013.

Prior to his €10 million transfer to newly-promoted RB Leipzig in the summer, Werner had featured in 95 Bundesliga games for Stuttgart, who were relegated last term.

He has represented Germany at all youth team levels and is expected to take part in the European Under-21 Championship in Poland next summer if they qualify.

Meanwhile, Schalke midfielder Max Meyer made his 100th Bundesliga appearance in his club's weekend defeat at Hoffenheim, becoming the fourth-youngest player to reach that milestone at 21 years and seven days.
