Bayern Munich star Manuel Neuer warns of Dortmund title threat

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has said he believes Borussia Dortmund will be his club's biggest rivals for the Bundesliga title.

Neuer, 30, told kicker he was looking forward to the season ahead for the defending champions under new coach Carlo Ancelotti.

But he warned that Bayern, who have won the league for the last four seasons, would not have things their own way in the title race.

"We have an interesting year in front of us," the World Cup winner said. "I'm excited for the new ideas of Carlo Ancelotti. We want to keep improving."

Bayern have sold Mario Gotze and Sebastian Rode to Dortmund and signed defender Mats Hummels from the club.

"Borussia Dortmund remain our toughest opponent. It will be an exciting season," Neuer added.

"I know how much quality they've gained in Mario, Sepp [Rode] and Andre Schurrle."

Neuer said he was sad about the retirement of Germany captain Bastian Schweinsteiger from international football, saying he had been "integral" to the World Cup 2014 success.

But he stressed: "I won't have any part in the public discussion over the Germany captaincy.

"I know that Joachim Low will make the right decision from his point of view."
