Alemannia Aachen director Alexander Klitzpera attacked after sacking coach

The sporting director of German fourth tier club Alemannia Aachen was taken to hospital after he was attacked following the sacking a young coach, the club has confirmed.

A row between Alexander Klitzpera, a 38-year-old former Bundesliga professional, and one of the club's youth coaches escalated on Monday, the club said in a statement on their official website.

"The Alemannia sporting director, Alexander Klitzpera, was physically attacked on Monday evening," the statement confirmed.

"During a youth academy coach meeting, Klitzpera was attacked by one youth coach, who had previously been ordered to leave.

"Klitzpera was injured in the attack, and needed to be treated in hospital."

The chief of the Alemannia Aachen supervisory board, Dr. Christian Steinborn, said: "Certain limits are not allowed to be overstepped. Physical violence has no place in our club."

According to a report in local paper Aachener Zeitung, Klitzpera told the coach he had no future at the club prior to the incident.

The club said charges would be brought against the coach, who has not been named.
