Robert Lewandowski remaining grounded despite sizzling start

Robert Lewandowski is keeping his feet planted firmly on the ground despite a tremendous start to the season with both Bayern Munich and Poland.

The 27-year-old striker has netted a staggering 22 times in 15 appearances since August, lifting Bayern to the top of the Bundesliga and Poland into next year's European Championship.

His incredible run included a five-goal haul in nine second-half minutes against Wolfsburg and he has scored at least once in the following five games.

But Lewandowski told the Bundesliga's official website: "The only thing I'm concentrating on is the path I'm treading. The next game is the next challenge.

"When you're playing a game every couple of days, you can't fill your head with all the fantastic praise and headlines. Furthermore, my goals are always the goals of my team.

"I'm 27 years old and am trying, if this is the peak, to ensure that it lasts as long as possible. Moreover, winning trophies is part of being at the top of the game."

Bayern are already eight points clear as they attempt to win their fourth Bundesliga title in a row, but Lewandowski refused to discount their rivals.

He added: "Have you ever seen a footballer, who after eight matchdays, breaks out in celebration and goes partying?

"We might have an advantage at the moment, but I don't believe teams like Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen don't stand a chance. The Bundesliga remains a challenge for us."
