Bayern Munich to honour returning Dante ahead of Wolfsburg clash

Bayern Munich will thank defender Dante for his service to the club ahead of Tuesday's match against his new side, Wolfsburg, at the Allianz Arena.

Dante, 31, left the Bundesliga champions on the final day of the German transfer window after three seasons at the club.

And just weeks later, he finds himself back in Munich as Wolfsburg attempt to put an end to Bayern's run of five wins from five league matches this season.

"I am looking forward to seeing former teammates, fans, coaches and staff again," Dante told Bayern's official website.

"I actually miss everybody, and I can say that from the bottom of my heart. I made a lot of friends in Munich -- teammates, staff members and fans -- and of course I miss them."

Speaking to football magazine kicker, he joked: "Bayern only know me [of the Wolfsburg players], but I know all 11 of their players."

David Alaba will play at centre-back for Bayern, and coach Pep Guardiola believes he can become one of the best in the world.

The versatile Austria international midfielder has played alongside Jerome Boateng or, during the Germany international's ban, Xabi Alonso in defence, and Guardiola had nothing but praise for him.

"He's an incredible talent," he told a prematch news conference. "He can play in all positions.

"He's fast, has good buildup play and is always 100 percent focused. Without a doubt, he can become one of the best centre-backs in the world."

With central defenders Medhi Benatia and Holger Badstuber still ruled out, Javi Martinez is another candidate for the position. The Spaniard returned at the weekend after 13 months on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Striker Robert Lewandowski, who missed the Darmstadt match with ankle problems, will also return to the squad against Wolfsburg.
