Sebastian Rode unhappy Bayern will miss Oktoberfest for Dortmund clash

Sebastian Rode is unhappy about the timing of Bayern Munich's meeting with Borussia Dortmund on Oct. 4 -- the final day of Oktoberfest.

Bayern will host Dortmund in the final game of Bundesliga matchday 8. Unlike previous years, the meeting between the two long-standing rivals will take place on a Sunday evening, with BVB away on Europa League duty at PAOK Saloniki the Thursday before the clash at the Allianz Arena.

The Sunday evening match coincides with the last day of the Munich Oktoberfest -- the biggest beer festival in the world -- which Bayern attend once a year dressed in Lederhosen.

However, photographers will have to do without images of Pep Guardiola and his players attending the festival this year, as the tight fixture list prevents the German champions from their traditional visit.

"As of now, we indeed don't have any official squad trip to the Wiesn [festival area in Munich]," Rode told Munchener Merkur.

He also criticised the German Football League [DFL] for not doing their homework, saying: "It's a bit annoying. But we play Borussia Dortmund on the final day instead of visiting the Wiesn. I don't know what went wrong at the DFL!"

The 24-year-old was told to stay at Bayern this summer despite offers from clubs such as Tottenham, Wolfsburg, Leverkusen and Schalke, and has only played a handful of minutes so far in his second season with the Bavarian giants.

Rode knows that all he can do is to work hard in training, and hope for his chance to return to the Bayern team after featuring in 23 Bundesliga games last term.

"I've played a good first season here, and everyone was able to see that I can help the team when I played," he added. "But regardless I have only made one appearance this season.

"All I can do is to give it my all and put myself forward in training and in the friendlies."
