Player agents in German football earned more than 100 million euros during the 2013-14 season, Der Spiegel has reported.

The magazine said it was the first time in Bundesliga history that agents had made such a sum, citing unreleased German Football League [DFL] documents. Four years ago, agents received some 70 million euros.

The numbers -- which were not confirmed by DFL executive Andreas Rettig -- are made up by a five to 15 percent share of the annual gross salary, or a similar share of the transfer fee and fees for agents.

According to the report, some agents also get bonuses for championships or Champions League trophies.

The DFL has been critical of fees paid to player agents in the past, while Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has described the current situation as "absurd," calling for players, rather than clubs, to pay agents.

Premier League clubs paid some 145 million euros to agents from October 2013 to September 2014, figures recently released by the league revealed.

More than one-third of that total was paid by only three clubs -- Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
