Can, 20, joined Leverkusen from Bayern Munich last summer, going on to make 39 appearances in all competitions for the club.

The Germany under-21 international, who picked up 13 yellow cards this season, can play as a holding or attacking midfielder, as well as at left-back.

According to a report in kicker, Liverpool have approached Leverkusen about the possibility of bringing the versatile player to Anfield.

While Bayern hold a buy-back option on Can in Germany, kicker claims that Leverkusen can sell the youngster, who is under contract until 2017, to clubs elsewhere in Europe.

When confronted with the speculation by the paper, however, Voeller chose not to comment.
