Pep: It's not easy after winning title

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola admitted his team will have to improve if they are to reach the final of the Champions League after struggling to a 2-0 win at Eintracht Braunschweig on Saturday.

Schaaf: Appetiser done, now for main course

The Bundesliga champions left it late before getting the better of the bottom-placed side and Guardiola admitted his side's recent struggles in the Bundesliga are a psychological problem that they need to resolve before facing Real Madrid on Wednesday.

“It's not easy for us after winning the title,” Guardiola told Sky. “But in spite of the difficulty today, we fought hard. Braunschweig had a lot of passion and determination and that also meant it wasn't easy for us.

“But we controlled the game more in the second half, and we won so we can be happy with that. We won't reach the final of the Champions League if we don't play a great game against Real, though.”

Braunschweig coach Torsten Lieberknecht felt his side had been unfortunate not to get something out of Saturday's clash, with defeat leaving his side on the brink of relegation.

“We would have deserved at least a point for the way we presented ourselves against this side, who are in a league of their own,” he said. “We've got to remain optimistic until the end. There is no explanation for some things which happen in football.”
